What to Know Before Selecting a Topic

  1. Know your audience. Will this topic interest your audience?
  2. Know yourself.  What interests you? What knowledge do you have to share?
  3. Know what information is available. Can you find information, statistics etc. on the topic?
  4. Know the speech requirements.  Time restrictions and the type of speech required are all requirements that will impact the topic you choose.
