Academic Central (formerly APA Style CENTRAL)

APA got you stumped?  Academic Writer (formerly APA Style CENTRAL) will get you started on the road to mastering APA . 

The Learn module contains short videos explaining APA guidelines, self quizzes, sample papers and more.   Here are some examples:

Use the Reference module to store your references.  The Write module provides paper templates to guide your work as you create your own paper.  Both Reference and Write modules require that you create an individual account to save your work. To set up an account:

  1. Click Welcome (upper right).
  2. Click Log in
  3. Click Create one here
  4. Complete form. 

Become APA Proficient

The library offers 3 different classes to help you better understand APA guidelines.  Classes are free, online and last from 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. To register, email Jamie Kellner at kellnerja@lakeland.edu.

  1. APA Basics: covers why we cite, resources to help you cite, and how to create reference page citations for a book, a journal article, an internet site and a YouTube video.
  2. In-Text Citations: an in-depth look at common APA in-text citing questions.
  3. Academic Writer: learn to use the ACADEMIC WRITER database to set up an account, save your sources, select a research paper template, and create properly formatted APA citations.
